Job Description

US Bank Technology Services structure is designed to deliver effective technology solutions to the business. Its goal is to lead the development and delivery of technologies to enable effective delivery of the business defined strategic priorities and outcomes, whilst in parallel maintaining a robust and resilient set of underlying core technology platforms and supporting services.

The Head of Technology Operational Excellence (TOE) will work closely and support the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of EFS accountable for the oversight and support of the technology function, supporting delivery of business line strategic priorities and related end to end technology architectures ensuring the bank has adequate technology programs focused on business goals and overall strategy.

The TOE will require a sound knowledge of the business of the regulated financial service provider and the specific responsibilities that are to be undertaken along with a clear and comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and legal environment appropriate to the relevant function.

The Head of Technology Operational Excellence will manage/oversight: these essential functions:

  • Manage the day to day running of an independent and objective technology management function capable of delivering to the highest professional standards.

  • Provide comprehensive and timely information on the Bank’s technology systems to enable the Management Committees to understand the overall technology operations of the Bank.

  • Responsibility for setting an ambitious and clear technology vision and strategy and communicate this effectively to key stakeholders.

  • Own the end-to-end technology experience strategy from inception and determine business value once solution enters production.

  • Objectively analyse the effectiveness of technology services of the Bank and recommend necessary changes.

  • Proactively monitor and report the impact of technology change.

  • Attend relevant Governance and Management Committees

  • Serve as a key liaison to the technology functions and the business lines in Europe.

  • Provide independent oversight and proactively challenge in the Bank’s planning and decision-making processes.

  • As required oversee the re-engineering of technology systems to ensure efficient and effective use of people, process and technology.

  • Ensure technology systems and procedures lead to outcomes in line with business goals.

  • Proactively support the business units in ensuring that the technology to which the Bank is exposed are identified, measured, and reported such that technology is an integral part of the decision-making processes throughout the Bank.

  • Create business value through technology adoption, effective implementation and quality ongoing support.

  • Strong knowledge of business unit with the ability to understand EFS’s business and deliver the business performance needed to achieve EFS’s purpose and goals.

To complete day-to-day activities in a manner which is consistent with legal, regulatory and stakeholder expectations.

The ability to build connections and partnerships within own business area and beyond, through formal and informal channels, utilising considerable tact, diplomacy and people skills.

The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
