Team Overview
Global Fund & Accounting Services: Alternatives Operations supports Alternative Investments and over $110B of assets globally. BAI takes a dynamic approach to alternative investments, creating investment vehicles that increasingly capitalize on evolving opportunities in fast-changing markets. We offer clients strategies designed to provide returns with low correlations to the broad equity and bond markets, including private equity, real estate equity and debt, hedge funds of funds, single strategy hedge funds, long-only absolute return strategies, commodities and structured products. Our alternative investment capabilities are fully integrated into BlackRock, allowing investment teams to capitalize on the firm’s considerable resources in areas such as risk management, product development, client service and operational support. This role will be part of a team focusing on private credit vehicles investing primarily in bank loans and bonds with some private equity.
Role Responsibilities
Learn the full accounting and reporting processes for one or more funds, assuming responsibility for accuracy, completeness and appropriate disclosure
Review the preparation of timely and accurate net asset values, performance metrics, distributions, analyses and other fund reports
Ensure monthly account closing procedures are followed
Review journal entries in accounting software (Advent Geneva)
Understand the daily cash monitoring, reconciliation and forecasting for assigned funds
Correspond with service providers and resolve outstanding issues
Ensure timely payment of expenses and other investment income
Identify, research and resolve exceptions and issues affecting accounting records and prices
Perform periodic lender collateral and compliance analyses and reporting
Review quarterly investor website reporting and other investor communications
See opportunities for process improvements and automation
Ad hoc projects as assigned
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar;
MAcc preferred
Demonstrated analytical skills
Demonstrated detail oriented and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Microsoft Office (high proficiency required in Excel spreadsheets)
Advent Geneva and/or Investran experience helpful
