Senior Plant Maintenance Mechanic - Great Benefits, Growing Company! The Senior Plant Mechanic will be responsible for preventative maintenance on all plant equipment & repairs and should be able to fabricate & install most equipment, understand regulations & train co-workers. Key Job Activities: 1) Scheduling repairs/repairing equipment (analyze work flow, initiating repair, performing repair etc). Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists. Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. 2) Un-scheduled downtime repairs (weld, troubleshoot & repair electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, wood, concrete, metal, fabricate parts, follow instructions, provide long term repairs, etc). Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment. Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Light truck and trailer maintenance (proximity lights, air hoses, etc.) 3) Fabrication (metal, plastic, wood, concrete, etc). Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams. Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Align and balance new equipment after installation. Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools. 4) Equipment/ boiler testing (utilizing water test kit, corrective actions, boiler inspection (parts, controls, valves, switches, etc). Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions. Filling out & filing reports (boiler, maintenance, recordkeeping, inventory, etc). Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work. 5) Inspecting Equipment (boiler, autoclave, compactor, washer, HVAC, trolley, compressors, testers/samplers, motors, pumps, valves, etc) Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of equipment does not deteriorate. 6) General housekeeping of the shop and tool storage area (understands importance of housekeeping, perform housekeeping). 7) Work with data control systems and troubleshoot any issues. 8) Performs other related duties as required or requested. Experience Required: Required Years of Experience (North America only): 3+ years Preferred Experience: Good knowledge & understanding For Management jobs, years of management experience preferred: None 3-5 years related experience and/or training, demonstrating the ability to identify and perform repairs that are needed and to assure scheduled production run. 5-7 years experience in related field working with hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electrical, pumps and plumbing. Must have experience with the use of forklifts, man-lifts, and various rigging equipment in the performance of maintenance activities. Must have experience with the performance of lockout/tag out and permit confined space programs related to maintenance activities. Must have experience with general air pneumatics, including air compressor operation and maintenance, regulator replacement, solenoid valve replacement, 2-way and 3-way valve, tubing installation, pneumatic pumps and general system troubleshooting. Must be able to use acetylene torches for cutting steel. Must be able to use a welder to fuse carbon steel and perform repairs. Preferred Experience: Experience with light programming, maintenance and troubleshooting. Jou neyman level experience. Knowledge of how to maintain a hydraulic system and the ability to read hydraulic flow diagrams. The ability to weld stainless steel or higher alloys and to operate a TIG welder. Basic computer skills and knowledge of excel and word. Boiler License, Electrical License, Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) certification and/or Welding Certification is preferred.
