Job Summary:

At Caterpillar’s East Peoria, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Track Type Tractors. In this role as a EHS Specialist, you will report to the Senior Manager Division EHS and will be primarily responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety projects and assignments that support and enhance Caterpillar facility performance and compliance. As a member of the EHS team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What will you do:

  • Identify applicable EHS regulations and evaluates impact to the facility

  • Perform inspections and tests to verify compliance

  • Identify existing and potential EHS problems

  • Participate in developing corrective measures

  • Develop procedures to assure continuing compliance with regulations and organization standards

  • Develop management systems for EHS functions

  • Perform EHS audits

  • Develop EHS training programs

  • Complete reports for submission to EPA or OSHA

  • Monitor EHS performance and recommends priorities and actions for improvement

  • Review new products, equipment, and processes for potential risks and recommends modificationsbefore introduction

  • Collaborate with employees and supervisors to identify and mitigate EHS risks

  • Develop standards and work practices with line personnel and monitors conformance through EHS inspections

  • Ensure compliance with organization and government EHS standards

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Uses safety or personal protective equipment, e.g. safety boots and protective eyewear.

• Prepares for emergency situations according to EHS policy.

• Replaces hazardous materials with environmentally friendly ones where appropriate.

• Conducts risk assessments to identify hazards in the business, work areas and work processes.

• Completes incident report forms after detecting risks or hazards in the workplace.

The primary location for this position is East Peoria, IL
