As part of Optum Technology, you will thrive as you help deliver solutions for Optum and UHG with world class enterprise geospatial technology as a member of the Enterprise Geospatial Analytics team. As a Geospatial Analyst, you will be a primary contributor in defining the patterns and practices for applying geospatial technology within healthcare. This position will design geospatial solutions to solve healthcare business problems, assist with platform operations and enhancements, and complete geospatial analytics projects and deliverables in partnership with business units. This role requires someone who is a product-minded technologist, proactive, innovative, and collaborative.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Innovate at the intersection of geospatial technology, data science and business market intelligence in support of the development of company products, tools, platforms, and services

  • Complete geospatial analytics projects, build deliverables, create marketing collateral, and contribute to knowledge sharing with a geospatial user community

  • Apply advanced geospatial analysis techniques to provide insights into healthcare related business problems

  • Assist with defining, designing, and building geospatial technology solutions (patterns and practices) to make non-geospatial experts successful with the technology in their day-to-day work

  • Assist with building and maintaining geographic data assets from disparate sources through ETL and automation

  • Contribute to GIS platform enhancements and assist with automation, operations, and maintenance needs

  • Engage with existing and prospective customers (internal), gather business needs, and communicate the value of Enterprise Geospatial Analytics internal product offerings

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Successful completion of at least 4 post-secondary courses in GIS, 2 Esri ArcGIS Certifications, a GISP certification OR 2+ years of equivalent on the job training

  • 3+ years of experience completing geospatial analysis projects and/or geospatial solution engineering

  • 3+ years of experience using geospatial technology, including some or all the following: ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server), ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Apps Suite, ArcGIS Insights and ArcGIS Pro + Business Analyst software suite or similar platform and software packages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with geospatial platform scripting, automation tools and/or web development is a plus. (Ex: ArcGIS Python API + Jupyter, ArcGIS JavaScript API)

  • Business intelligence, Analytic or ETL solution experience is a plus (MS Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, FME, etc.)

  • Experience or interest in Data Science, Machine Learning computing and/or the R Statistical package

  • Experience applying geospatial analytics in the private sector to solve commercial business problems

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills

  • Healthcare industry experience

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
