GeoVerra HR Co-Op Student - Temporary in Edmonton, Alberta

We are searching for a HR Co-Op Student ready to dive headfirst into HR, Recruitment and Payroll with guidance from our fun and fast-paced HR team based in Edmonton, AB. This position will be involved in everything from recruiting and onboarding new faces to the GV team, to analyzing and investigating important payroll data, and everything in between!

This is a temporary 12-month position ending June/July 2025. The successful candidate will need to be able to work out of our Edmonton office 3 days per week and can work from home up to 2 days per week.

 

What you will do:

Support the Human Resources team including, but not limited to:

  • Support recruitment administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Job posting and maintenance using our applicant tracking system (ATS), JazzHR.

  • Conducting pre-screen phone calls with candidate,

  • Coordinating interview scheduling with candidates and hiring leaders,

  • Calling candidate references and conducting reference checks,

  • Administering the pre-boarding and onboarding processes by maintaining open communication with new hires and hiring leader,

  • Respond to external inquiries through the Careers inbox and triage emails to hiring leaders and team members as appropriate.

  • Support Payroll administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Reviewing and analyzing invoices to create monthly and weekly reports

  • Use ADP to run various payroll reports on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Extract and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.

  • Complete regular HR reporting for multiple business units on people statistics.

  • Attend regular recruitment meetings with the Recruitment team and hiring leaders.

  • Record accurate meeting notes and action items at team meetings.

  • Complete data entry in HRIS system, Deltek Vantagepoint.

  • Support the HR team with letter creation for employment verification letters, employee change letters, offer letters and more.

  • Evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business.

  • Other tasks as required.

     

    What you will bring:

  • Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis and p ursuing a degree or diploma with a specialization in HR.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient with various computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel would be considered an asset.

  • Maintain utmost confidentiality when working with employee information.

  • Ability to work both independently and with a team on various projects.

  • Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities under tight deadlines, while maintaining a high-degree of accuracy and professionalism.
