The Canadian Brewhouse IT Operations Manager in Edmonton, Alberta
The Canadian Brewhouse opened its first restaurant in 2001, in Edmonton, Alberta. By adding awesome talent to our team, serious dedication and persistence, and keeping the guest in mind, we’ve grown to 45 Canadian Brewhouses, 1 Canadian Icehouse, 5 Banquet Bars (second restaurant concept), 41 Plantlife Cannabis dispensaries, 5 Ribeye Butcher Shops, and will soon be opening The Italian Bakery's Tesoro!
As the IT Operations Manager, you will be responsible for building systems that meet industry best practices and ensure that service requests are handled in a timely manner, working with support when needed. You will strive to look for new ways to secure and improve existing infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Director of IT, you will complete exciting projects across Canada and resolve escalated service desk requests from employees at our stores, as well as our Edmonton Head Office.
Responsibilities
Plan, configure, and deploy Meraki firewalls, switches, and access points.
Configure Dell servers with RAID arrays to run Microsoft Hyper-V. Experience with clustered Hyper-V deployments and S2D would be an asset.
Manage and deploy large amounts of windows virtual machines, keeping a gold image up to date and utilizing automation to build new POS systems.
Proficiency in Powershell and Infrastructure automation will be a massive asset.
Remotely monitor and manage 1400+ physical/virtual POS systems, servers, and workstations by monitoring and improving alerting/automated remediation.
Manage a fleet of 900 Apple iPads using Meraki MDM and Apple business manager.
Create wireless access point maps for new restaurant builds and work with the construction team to ensure IT infrastructure requirements are met.
Complete network retrofits of aging hardware at restaurants. Some after hours work required.
Provide Tier 2 assistance to stores and act as an escalation point for the department.
Remotely diagnose and resolve Network/POS issues at CBH locations across Canada.
Re-image and attempt repairs on Micros Oracle POS workstations and iPads
Support Micros Simphony hardware, software and backend.
Install, modify, and repair computer hardware & software.
Provide basic preliminary support for AV systems before escalating to third party support.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all systems and software.
Travel across Canada for projects and regularly visit store locations throughout the Edmonton area.
Look for opportunities to improve infrastructure and present them to the Director of IT.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date timesheets.
Attend team meetings as required.
Participate in the on-call IT Emergency rotation (approximately one week a month).
Requirements
Post-secondary training in Network Administration or Computer Systems Administration
5 years experience in a systems administration role.
Experience designing new networks and replacing old ones.
Experience managing & working with the following technologies:
Windows Server 2019, 2022
Microsoft Hyper-V
Dell Servers and RAID Array Management
Powershell Scripting
Microsoft Device Imaging and deployment
Meraki Networks
Meraki MDM
Advanced knowledge of networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, Switching and Routing, Wifi, etc.)
Square Readers
Windows 7 & 10
Mac OS
Pagerduty
Google Workspace Administration
Jira service desk Administration
Experience mounting networking equipment and using power tools on a construction site
Experience in a retail or hospitality POS based environment would be an asset.
Experience working with AV systems (TVs, Microphones, Cable boxes, Speakers) would be an asset but is not required.
A valid 5 class driver license is required.
