Position Description:

Provides specialized care as part of the healthcare team in an inpatient and outpatient service and managing patients with interventional neurology needs. Management also includes patient education and counseling as well as physical assessment. May participate in teaching programs for students and other residents and fellows. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families and other clinic personnel and professionals. Special programs including educational that occur outside of normal working hours may be required.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for 50% of duties inpatient care follow-up and 40% of clinical care will be in the outpatient Neurology clinic and 10% administrative duties

  • Duties in the outpatient Neurology Clinic and inpatient unit to assist IR faculty neurologist team

  • Duties in the outpatient clinic to include conducting scheduled and unscheduled outpatient encounters (with physician back-up) involving a cerebrovascular diseases

  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations and adheres to institutional and department policies & procedures

  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

  • Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.

  • Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.

  • Works both inpatient and outpatient setting.

  • Bilingual competence in English & Spanish.

  • Eligible for Delegated Prescriptive Authorization through the Texas Boardof Nursing.

  • Minimum of one year experience in Neurology patient care.
