Overview Tecolote Research Inc. is seeking candidates for the role of Space Systems Command (SSC) Congressional Communications Specialist to support the research and development of strategic congressional initiatives and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building Congressional Partnerships and guiding teams across all Program Executive Offices (PEOs) and stakeholders
  • Apply critical thinking and analysis to provide expert Congressional analysis, synthesis of Congressional Defense Committee (CDC) concerns and issues, as well as insight and knowledge of the annual congressional cycle, processes, and the various events in the Air Force/Space Force Task/Response Timeline to Congress.
  • Conduct congressional research and assist the Government with preparation and review of AF responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), Questions for the Record (QFRs), strategic messaging, hearings, and testimonies for all levels of senior leadership, and all other SSC Congressional-related activities.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and preparing logistics for Staffer/Congressional Delegation andcommittee visits, and prepare congressional briefing templates and materials for SSC reviews.
  • Brief the SSC PEOs, SSC/CC, and/or next-level SSC Leadership regarding the congressional players, climate, upcoming electoral issues, concerns, and items of interest, and relay pertinent, real-time information by phone or email to the PEOs and their staff.
  • Develop new and continuously improve existing knowledge management content, training workshops, lessons learned, and program management tools.

Skills Required

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 10 years of combined industry and federal government experience (such as DoD/NASA/NRO employee or SETA/FFRDC supporting federal government acquisition).
  • United States Air Force (USAF), United States Space Force (USSF), and/or Space Systems Command (SSC) experience is a plus
  • Must effectively communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical and administrative accuracy in a professional manner.
  • Excel at innovatively interpreting and effectively applying acquisition regulations, law, policy, and guidance with demonstrated results.
  • Interest and ability to work in a dynamic work environment
  • Must be able perform all duties independently.
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required, with ability to obtain TS/SCI level clearance
  • Bachelors Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.

Education

  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
