Job Overview:

Trinitas Regional Medical Center, established in 2000 through the consolidation of Elizabeth General Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital, operates as a Catholic teaching hospital under the oversight of the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth. Situated in Elizabeth, NJ, the hospital serves a population exceeding 129,000, offering comprehensive healthcare across two campuses. With 554 beds, including facilities for long-term care and behavioral health, Trinitas annually treats nearly 20,000 inpatients, 70,000 emergency patients and accommodates over 450,000 outpatient visits. The Trinitas Oncology Unit, providesa wide variety of Medical/Surgical and diagnostic services to a diverse population with cancer. The unit offers 22 beds. The oncology The oncology nurse provides emotional and clinical support to patients and families who are affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • ASN or Nursing Diploma

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

  • Oncology, Med./Surg., Telemetry and/or ER nursing experience

  • Oncology certifications and/or national nursing certifications

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS through American Heart Association upon hire

  • ACLS Certification within 6 months of start date

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License or active Compact Registered Nurse License with New Jersey endorsement

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Night Shift, 40 hours per week, 7p-7:30a

  • Monday Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Essential Functions:

Assists the Nurse Manager with ensuring that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients and his/her nursing units in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Provides input into evaluation of staff performance in accordance with organization policies. Participates in nursing Quality Improvement. Assists with unit administration, including scheduling, payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Maintains and role models clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
