JOB SUMMARY

The Manager Entity Reporting and Tax is a key member of the EMEA Finance team. This position oversees the accounting, finance operations and tax for assigned Marriott entities in EMEA. The role is assisting the Senior Manager Entity Reporting and Tax in the preparation and field work for the timely filing of EMEA Statutory accounts, as well as the liaison between Marriott and the contracted Auditing firm and assisting in the coordination and managing of all aspects of the local income tax compliance for EMEA’s legal entities.

Responsibilities include accounting, financial statement preparation, coordination, preparation and filing of tax returns for entities incorporated and/or tax resident in the Continent, which may include estimated payments, informative returns, withholding tax filings, VAT returns and payments. The Manager Entity Reporting and Tax works with independence, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing financial information as well as legal contracts to support the accounting and tax for subsidiaries. In addition, he/she will serve as a contact for entity questions/issues for stakeholders across the organization as it pertains to countries across EMEA.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Responsible for the Corporate and Statutory Accounting function for Marriott assigned entities, ensuring books are in compliance with Local and US GAAP.

  • Work with the engaged company auditors and tax advisors to deliver the information required to perform the audits and submission of tax returns in a timely manner.

  • Monthly accounting and related task for assigned entities.

  • Ensures the completeness and accuracy of Peoplesoft Financial systems for all entities under this role.

  • Reconcile Local accounting systems to Marriott’s Peoplesoft system and ensure Local and Marriott ledgers are in balance.

  • Provides MIP-66 certification of Marriott admin entities ensuring full reconciliation of the balance sheet.

  • Oversees general administration accounting and works with the accounting team on the day-to-day transactional processing.

  • Use relevant computer programs to verify details of recorded transactions; conduct detailed examinations of cash receipts and disbursement vouchers, payroll records, requisitions, delivery notes, receiving reports and other accounting and operating documents to ascertain whether transactions are properly supported and are recorded correctly.

  • Prepares financial analysis as directed by the Continent’s Finance Team

  • Partner with Tax, Treasury Accounting Services, Corporate & Statutory Accounting, Treasury, Legal and all other interested parties

  • Partner with hotel Directors of Finance as appropriate

  • Maintain accurate and detailed working papers in the agreed standard format.

  • Recommend ways to bring programs and operations into compliance with goals and objectives.

  • Ensures polices and processes are controls focused and are in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Complete any other tasks assigned by the management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures, and techniques of accounting, and of financial records and transactions including, but not limited to, generally accepted accounting principals.

Qualification

  • Qualified Accountant, or relevant Accountancy qualification

  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience in Finance and Accounting.

  • Knowledge in US GAAP, German GAAP and IFRS beneficial

  • Must be able to work in English.

  • German language preferred
