GE Aerospace Advanced Lead Engineer - Mechanical Design in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Advanced Lead Engineer position is for Heat Exchanger Design and Analysis for a Military NPI Program. The Advanced Lead Engineer will contribute to the design and development of structural hardware that meets integrated requirements of the engine and airframe. This will include new hardware design as well as improvement to existing hardware. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgement may be required but this is typically with guidance. The Lead Engineer is also expected to participate in planning design activities, conducting technical reviews, supply chain integration, and practicing weekly/daily management for the component.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products.

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.

  • Develops analysis approach and strategies to meet design requirement criteria.

  • Integrate with supply chain team to execute manufacturing objectives of component while minimizing cost and lead time were advantageous.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in design engineering

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Established project management skills.

  • Existing US Government security clearance

  • Prior engineering experience in aircraft engine design​

  • Exposure to additive design and manufacturing

  • Ability to use tools such as: ANSYS Workbench, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Microsoft Office to preform design activities

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
