Farmingdale State College Office Assistant 3 (Grade 14) - Student Accounts in Farmingdale, New York

The office of Student Accounts at Farmingdale State College seeks to fill the role of an Office Assistant 3. The job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist students with inquiries in-person, on the phone and by email

  • Answer questions from and provide information to staff and other departments

  • Process Third Party Billing for 1199 and National Guard

  • Process mail

  • Post payments and other transactions in Banner

  • Outreach to students regarding outstanding balances, returned mail and uncashed checks

  • Order supplies

  • Process purchase requisitions and track expenditures

  • Reconcile reports

  • Additional activities as needed

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • As per Civil Service. Hiring procedures in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law. Must be reachable on the Administrative Assistant 2 Civil Service list or be eligible for 70.1 transfer. See below.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience working in a Student Accounts/Bursar, Financial Aid or Registrar office setting.

  • Knowledge of the Ellucian Banner system or another Student Information System.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Professional manner, possess good communication skills, have the ability to multi-task, be organized and reliable.

Transfers from other New York State agencies are welcome to apply.

To be eligible for transfer pursuant to Civil Service Law Section 70.1:

  1. Nominees must have served permanently in an appropriate title or titles for one year, and

    1. the titles must be within two salary grades, and

    2. nominees must possess any required special credentials, and

    3. consecutive transfers cannot result in more than a two-salary grade advancement.

Additional Information:

  • Hiring procedures in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law.

  • Grade 14 Salary: $54,860 + $3,400 location pay = $58,260 Total Annual Compensation
