Career Opportunity:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the Manufacturing Operation, including business planning, safety, environmental, sales strategies, planning, and financial accountability.
How You Will Impact WestRock:
As an Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership of a manufacturing facility in the fast-paced packaging industry. In this role, you will have P&L accountability, and exercise your knowledge and skills to develop and lead people across safety, quality, compliance, sales, and manufacturing, while building a strong culture of excellence.
Provide a safe and secure work environment. Support all safety, environmental and security efforts; assure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures, and provide leadership and guidance as needed
Initiate plans and processes that minimize costs and effectively utilizes manpower, budget, equipment, material, and capital to obtain plant objectives and performance goals
Implement business strategies and operation plans that support WestRock strategic initiatives
Responsible for partnering with sales and growing revenue through support of sales initiatives
Coordinate work with various functions regularly from WestRock corporate in IT, procurement, logistics, legal, accounting, capital planning, and other teams to support corporate initiatives and Farmingdale needs.
Responsible for capital planning and budgeting for immediate and strategic needs for Eutaw’s success
Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Coordinate efforts to establish a culture of actively engaged employees
Increase management’s effectiveness by coaching, counseling and supporting managers; communicating WestRock strategies, goals and values
Create facility operating budget and manage spending against budget
Supervise the facility’s managers and supervisors, responsible for all employee training and development
Establish individual and group goals and accountabilities and evaluates work performance for direct reports; reviews and approves performance evaluations for indirect reports
Review, analyze and prepare reports and presentations as required
What You Need To Succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 5 years of experience leading people and managing manufacturing facilities with responsibility for P 10 years of experience in manufacturing; Folding Carton / Packaging a plus
Cross-functional experience in Sales, Manufacturing, Safety, Quality, Environmental Compliance, and Financial Management
Ability to focus on outcomes that drive higher earnings, improve volume and lower costs
Ability to create and promote a culture that propels high employee and customer satisfaction
Capable of understanding how situations impact your decisions, behavior, communications, and others
Demonstrated commitment to driving customer satisfaction, financial performance, and employee satisfaction
Lean Six Sigma Certification and/or continuous improvement background strongly preferred.
Ability and discipline to manage your time and priorities in fast-paced and ever-changing environment
Demonstrated experience in sales and ability to build solid relationships and understand customer needs
Possess strong verbal, written and presentation skills to effectively and confidently communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including customers, associates, business unit management team and regional and corporate leadership
Demonstrated ability to inspire, lead, and develop team members
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and ability to learn WestRock systems (ERP and other standardized software)
