Position Summary

The Senior Financial Representative, Joint Venture Lead will be responsible for all treasury activities, including the debt related activities for the active and prospective joint ventures that MPC and MPLX participate in. This role will be expected to collaborate with internal stakeholders across several business units as well as external business partners. The chosen candidate will also serve as a representative for the MPC/MPLX Treasury to third parties, such as banks and rating agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as the main subject-matter expert for MPC or MPLX contact with Joint Venture (JV) partners on the Treasury and Finance activities of each JV. A significant focus will be on the JVs MPLX has entered into with WhiteWater Midstream (WWM).

  • Responsible for all MPC and MPLX financing activities of the JVs that MPC and MPLX participate in, maintaining close liaison with financial analysts in pertinent areas as necessary.

  • Collaborates with MPC and MPLX Business Development advisors to ensure consistent application of MPC and MPLX investment strategies.

  • Assists MPC and MPLX Accounting, Finance, Legal, Tax and Treasury teams to ensure appropriate and necessary information from each JV is available to MPC and MPLX teams.

  • Responsible for completing reporting on timely intervals to keep MPC and MPLX stakeholders up to date on JV financing activities.

  • Attend conferences or consult with third parties to develop knowledge on alternative JV financing options.

  • Represent MPC and MPLX interest on respective JV finance committees.

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining data within a central repository for joint venture cross-functional efforts for the benefit of the primary stakeholders at ELT and VP levels.

  • Initiates change that transforms processes or systems, innovates rather than settling for the status quo; drives alignment with best practices and increased efficiency with automation.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or comparable curriculum is required.

  • MBA preferred, but not required.

  • 7 years of progressive finance/treasury experience is required.

  • Knowledge of various project level financing vehicles, capital market activity or involvement with M&A transactions is strongly preferred.

  • Joint venture knowledge, or investment analysis experience is preferred.

  • Proficient with creating and presenting to senior leaders is preferred.

    Travel

  • Up to 10% travel to conferences or client meetings.
