Description of Work Unit

Serve Colorado State University Dining Services with loyalty, competence and professionalism and to expect the same from others; to maintain within our Institution the highest standards of service, quality products and food safety and to promote the same standards within the community by personal practice and example. Residential Dining Services sole purpose is to provide Colorado State University students, faculty/staff and the community with a quality food service program.

Position Summary

This position is a 9-month temporary assignment. To act as a foodservice worker and perform a variety of supportive foodservice work including, but not limited to: Dishwashing, cleaning and sanitation, restocking, performing inventory, cooking, heating, sautéing, baking, and organizing the dish area. Sweeping and mopping of the facility, and tasks as assigned. Must learn the rules and regulations of dining services and orient themselves with the facility to be able to organize and prioritize work assignments within established operating procedures and guidelines. Must be able to work in varying work conditions and be on your feet for extended periods of time. Meals during your shift are free.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Assist and learn to produce food items from preprinted menus using standardized recipes and methods.

  • Food items are produced by the ability to bake, roast, broil, steam, fry, grill, chop, measure, and mix ingredients.

  • Learn to pull/prepare and produce food items for further use.

  • Assist and learn how to clean and sanitize all production and service areas, machinery/equipment, dishes and utensils, etc.

  • Learn and assist in recording temperature control checks ( HACCP ).

  • Assist and learn all sanitation duties to include dish room and disposal operations.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of how to operate each station and produce all menu items.
