Otter Products is currently seeking a Sr. Regulatory Engineer, with experience certifying consumer electronics, to join our Engineering Team! You can be based in our Fort Collins, CO office with flexibility to work a portion of your time remotely.

In this role you will plan, develop, and implement technical compliance capabilities for Otter Products in accordance with local, national, and international standards as related to our products. This role works with minimal supervisory oversight, so you'll have an opportunity to apply advanced knowledge on a global scale to ensure our products and/or processes follow the required legal compliance frameworks. The Regulatory Engineer maintains knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance requirements and is involved in all phases of the product lifecycle to ensure that product safety requirements are known, understood, and incorporated into product design, testing, and manufacturing processes. Otter Products in scope includes wall chargers, power banks, wireless chargers, wireless charging stations, and interface cables.

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance, development, and timely national and international regulatory submissions, ensuring that all regulatory activities are conducted with the highest integrity and in an ethical manner Communicates regulatory strategy effectively to all departments, senior management, regulators, and regulatory agencies to achieve timelines Ensures that all outside official communications comply with the appropriate regulations and internally approved regulatory and marketing claims Acts as an effective regulatory consultant to management and other functions Maintains knowledge of current and future safety and regulatory compliance requirements and product standards globally Helps ensure internal and external customers are apprised of these regulations throughout the product lifecycle for all supported countries Maintains databases and other tools to track compliance Ensures product safety and regulatory requirements are included in the design input and fully covered during verification and validation of the product and manufacturing process for all global markets where products are sold Provides feedback to the development teams on potential required updates to adhere to compliance guidelines including IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1, 62368-1 Coordinates testing and certification activities internally or with outside certified laboratories Collaborates with packaging team to ensure product is labeled in a compliant manner Liaison between suppliers, testing labs, regulatory agencies, and global customers to ensure product meets specific count y requirements Creates test procedures as needed for product regulatory requirements Develops and/or reviews department and organizational procedure Support with technical review of Managing change documents for offshore manufacturing facilities Provide regulatory training presentations to internal and external customers Validates that all Otter products are compliant with Restricted Substances regulations including, but not limited to, REACH, RoHS, and Prop 65 Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent 4-year degree
