Summary About the Position: Serves as Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Headquarters Librarian with responsibility for providing academic, technical, capability development, and doctrinal research support to the HQ TRADOC staff, subordinate units co-located with HQ TRADOC, and other authorized users. Responsibilities Responsible for the full scope of library operations, administration, and management. This list is not all-inclusive: Manage information resource selections, budget and procurement, facility, and space allocation for the library. Develop short- and long-range library plans for the HQ TRADOC library. Direct reference and research service for the library and serve as principal researcher and technical expert. Provide comprehensive reference and research services in support of highly specialized aspects of the library's mission assuring the reference and research needs of requestors are met. Conduct training programs, briefings, and demonstrations of hardware and software for library staff, users, and various library/automation experts. Advise decision makers in setting program goals to support the organizational mission. Responsible for the acquisition of materials. Individual Occupational Requirements: The Librarian occupation has specific educational and experience requirements which apply to all positions: Completion of one (1) full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of ALL your transcripts.) -OR- A total of at least five (5) years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. In addition to the above basic qualification requirement, all applicants must demonstrate: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) experience assisting in the development of library policies and procedures; 2) identifying and/or analyzing potential technology solutions to improve library services; and 3) selecting, procuring, or cataloging of library materials in various formats. This experience is equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
