U.S. Marine Corps LEGAL ASSISTANT (OA) in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

Summary You will serve as a LEGAL ASSISTANT (OA) in the TRAINING COMMAND of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND. Responsibilities You will perform extensive legal research in the areas of military justice, administrative law, administrative separations, commanders' inquiries, and reports of investigation. You will use legal references, computerized research terminal, and other available sources to obtain appropriate authorities of administrative rulings, statutes, and regulations. You will review and analyze precedents relevant to cases and prepares legal research and summaries for use by the TRNGCMD Judge Advocate in legal matters. You will perform legal research including researching legal reference files for specific information such as pertinent Federal and State statutes, cases, briefs, opinions and other points of legal significance. You will be responsible for training, coaching, and guiding legal representatives in the execution of various legal actions. You will prepare documents that will be used in such areas as administration of military justice cases and routine office correspondence. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing administrative, secretarial, and specialized legal support functions pertaining to the law including routine preparation of complex legal documents with access to sensitive information; AND assist with researching and updating legal reference materials.
