Summary

E Construction is now hiring for a Hydrovac Operator based out of our Ft. McMurray location. This position will work with our Underground Utilities division to safety identify hazards and prepare for underground service work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Swamper to uncover underground utilities, clear spills on job sites and safely dispose of hazardous materials.

  • Navigate active job sites with workers and equipment/vehicles moving in confined spaces.

  • Communicate with Foremen to establish timeline and requirements for each job.

  • Drive to and from multiple locations throughout the workday to provide services as needed.

  • Train and mentor Swamper on safe operation of Hydrovac equipment.

  • Operate within requirements of Ground Disturbance procedures.

  • Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.

  • Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.

  • Other labour and operation related duties as required.

Qualifications | Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred

  • Class 5 driver’s license

  • Minimum 2 years experience within the construction industry

  • Minimum 3-5 years Hydrovac experience

  • Solid understanding of utility excavation

  • Knowledge of ground disturbance hazards

Working Conditions

  • Weather dependent schedule of Monday to Saturday, consisting of up to 12 hours. Overtime is paid in accordance with local employment standards legislation.

  • Out of town travel may be required, accommodations and Live Out Allowance may be applicable.

  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.

  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.

  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
