Defense Information Systems Agency SUPV IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in Fort Meade, Maryland

Summary This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. Positions in the Cyber Excepted Service are positions necessary to carry out and support the mission of the United States Cyber Command. It is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure located in DISA JFHQ - DODIN. Responsibilities Serves as senior technical authority supporting JFHQ-DODIN in Defensive Cyber Operation Internal Defensive Measures (DCO-IDM) techniques, tactics, procedures, design, and network monitoring. Identifies solutions for complex issues associated with current, future operations, and assesses effectiveness of ongoing operations to improve timely resolution across the DODIN. Provides overarching direction and guidance in Division efforts designed to detect, deter, prevent, and respond to strategic attacks against the DODIN. Provides staff level DODIN operational advice, guidance and oversight regarding the policy, planning, and technical understanding of threat operations. Serves on senior level panels, working groups, and committees to plan, coordinate, and recommend the implementation of DCO-IDM actions. Plans and directs work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, establishes completion dates. Performs administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff members supervised. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below Basic Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate on their resume that they have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. -Attention to Detail -Customer Service -Oral Communication -Problem Solving Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in defensive cyberspace operations, network operations, and cyberspace related projects; experience in evaluating and recommending improvements to processes and procedures that monitor the cyber defense network. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GG-14 grade level. Additional Information This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to the competitive service. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination. A three year probationary period may be required. This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position. In accordance with DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subjected to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months and any future Cybersecurity Workforce qualification/credentialing requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s). This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency. Employee is subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management. This position is subject to the limitations imposed by the DOD Priority Placement Program.
