Summary About the Position: This position will serve as a Legal Assistant (OA) located at 428th FA BDE, Fires Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, OK. Responsibilities Coordinates with court members and board members to set hearing dates, contacts witnesses, coordinates with the command and staff regarding unit responsibilities. Prepares document and packets for non-judicial punishment and courts-martial for review. Types material from rough drafts, general information or oral instructions for review by officials. Records proceedings of administration separation boards and Article 32 hearings using tape recorder and handwritten notes. Maintains a suspense file of all pending and completed legal actions. Accounts for all exhibits during the proceedings. Assembles the transcripts with supporting documents and forwards for review and approval. Provides administrative support in the examination, initiation, and completion of legal actions and reviews. Must be able to type 40 wpm. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) assisting with legal clerical support functions; (2) reviewing legal documents for accuracy in spelling, grammar and correct format; (3) locating and compiling data from files or records; (4) maintaining and dispose legal records files; and (5) utilizing office automation systems. OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Self-Management Speaking Teamwork Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
