**Job Title: Lead Maintenance Mechanic (29870)

**Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:We are currently seeking a full-time on-site Lead Maintenance Mechanic in our Operations and Maintenance department. This supervisory position leads and supports departmental staff with preventative maintenance, installation, repair, inspection, calibration, etc. of campus maintenance systems.

Primary Responsibilities:**

  • Direct, oversee, and manage maintenance department staff.
  • Supervise emergency response operations.
  • Lead the installation, demand maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, inspection, calibration, or location of campus maintenance, repair, and operation systems.
  • Respond to work orders, diagnose problems, determine appropriate repair solutions, and ensure repairs and maintenance are completed.
  • Ensure performance of department meets standards and regulations.
  • Document activities completed on shifts and ensures communication between Director and Supervisors.
  • Identify and follow area safety guidelines, ensures direct reports follow safety procedures.
  • Assist other staff, Grounds, and other Facilities co-workers in performing a variety of tasks based on departmental needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years experience performing all aspects of maintenance, repair, and operation in commercial facilities.
  • At least 3 years experience as a direct supervisor for at least 3 direct reports.
  • Must have valid drivers license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy.
  • Must be able to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of fabrication, installation, preventive maintenance, repair, servicing, or replacement of maintenance equipment.
  • The ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work with Project Managers, A and E, contractors and other representatives of trades in management of construction and renovation projects.
  • Ability to effectively organize and direct personnel during crisis or emergency situations.
  • Ability to review and evaluate problems and to identify and implement creative solutions.
