Stryker Senior Manager, Marketing, Foot & Ankle - Europe in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany

The Senior Manager, Marketing, Foot & Ankle Europe is driving market share growth through the formulation and execution of strategic marketing plans, reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing, Trauma & Extremities (T&E) Europe.

This individual will be responsible for engaging, coaching, and developing their team of Brand Managers, while also taking a very hands-on portfolio management approach.

As part of the Trauma and Extremities division of Stryker, the Foot & Ankle business offers a comprehensive portfolio of innovative hardware like ankle, forefoot, hindfoot and midfoot implants for the surgical treatment of bone fractures that help improve patient care and the overall healthcare experience. What you will do:

  • Lead the Foot & Ankle marketing strategy in Europe to deliver above market growth.

  • Be bold in deploying the team’s resources to where the group can have maximum impact on the European business.

  • Develop customer relationships that provide strategic insights and deep understanding of customer needs.

  • Balance people management with a hands-on approach to driving the portfolio, playing the role of “player-manager”.

  • Represent the European business in global marketing activities, including upstream marketing.

  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with divisions across Stryker to drive growth and deliver enhanced customer value.

  • Through the Annual Marketing Plan process, lead your team to develop the annual and long- term Foot & Ankle strategy in Europe to achieve required growth, operating income, and market share targets.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the financial performance of the Foot & Ankle portfolio, communicating these appropriately within the organization.

  • In collaboration with the Innovative Solutions team, identify education, brand experience and customer engagement opportunities for both internal and external audiences.

Your key activities:

  • Lead, manage and mentor your team of Brand Managers, ensuring opportunities for their continued development.

  • Drive your team’s creation of progressive, and impactful product launches.

  • Ensure clarity of communication with local marketing teams, and in doing so, facilitate alignment of Marketing strategy throughout Europe.

  • Forge strong relationships throughout the T&E division globally.

  • Together with your team of Brand Managers, define and execute European product life cycle, including launch and phase-out of products.

  • Provide analysis of Foot & Ankle business performance, brand perception, and other drivers of future brand performance.

  • Create pan-European, scalable virtual and in-person customer engagement events such as facility tours/events/congresses, hands-on opportunities, and medical education programs.

  • Manage branding, messaging, positioning, and pricing of assigned brands based on market, customer, and competitive insights.

  • Act as a role model for global organizational, social, and moral values.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong Marketing experience of which a significant portion is within the MedTech industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Economics, Life Science or relevant field.

  • Proven track record in international marketing and/or sales management and extensive knowledge of product management processes, planning and execution in a multinational medical device company.

  • Prior experience in managing, coaching, or mentoring (marketing) teams is required.

  • Proven experience in implementing marketing initiatives that result in above market growth and delivery of financial commitments.

  • Fluent level of English, written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated experience in establishing marketing programs to evaluate market characteristics and trends, to position and differentiate products within both new and existing markets.

  • Experienced in financial modelling (e.g., for product launches, strategic planning etc.).

  • A marketer with the ability to relate to colleagues and surgeons from different markets and cultures.

  • A sophisticated collaborator, networker, and communicator, capable of leveraging these strengths effectively within a matrix organization.

  • Minimum of 40% travel should be expected.

  • Location: flexible within Europe, preference for near international airport/travel hub.
