[Under general supervision, Concrete Finishers perform skilled work in concrete laying, finishing and repair. Incumbents perform standard concrete finishing work on a variety of concrete jobs, such as, manholes, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and steps. Assignments may also include custom concrete, stamped concrete and decorative design and color work.

A vacancy currently exists in the Street Maintenance Division of the Department of Public Works. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion.

**[THE REQUIREMENTS [These are entrance requirements to the examination and do not assure a place on the eligible list. Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify:

[One (1) year of journey-level experience in concrete finishing work.

**[ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS [Possession of a valid Class C California Drivers License at time of appointment. Class B California Drivers License is required for the classification and shall be obtained within six (6) months of appointment. Failure to obtain the required license within the specified time period shall be cause for termination from this class.

[Underground Service Alert certification may be required at time of appointment for assignments in the Facilities Maintenance Division.

[Eligibles certified for consideration will be required to successfully pass a department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint process prior to employment.

**[THE SELECTION PROCESS

[The examination process may consist of the following:

[WRITTEN EXAMINATION - 100%: A job-related written examination will be administered which may test a candidate's knowledge and abilities related to concrete forming, maintenance and repair, ADA accessibility, concrete mixes, moisture control, structural and reinforced concrete, job costing, leadership, following written instruction, as well as tool, material, and equipment identification. Candidates must achieve a passing score on the written examination to qualify for the placement on the eligible list.
