R&D Scientist (Analytical Chemistry)

The Scientist in Analytical Chemistry is a Frisco, TX based role responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis, interpretation and communication of results, and supporting the Analytical team, R&D teams, and various functions within the KDP business. Effective participation in cross-functional teams and an understanding of the project management process will be required. The candidate should also possess good problem-solving skills and show strong leadership and influencing capabilities in making data driven project/business decisions. The scientist should be self-motivated, work independently in the role, and possess strong project leadership skills.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performing a wide range of analytical testing using modern instrumentation and wet chemical techniques

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to customers, R&D project teams, KDP business leaders and internal/external partners

  • Participate on, and lead, projects and cross functional teams as a SME (subject matter expert) for product and ingredient analysis

  • Compile, interpret, and communicate test results clearly, timely, and effectively to customers and project stakeholders, which will include the utilization and management of a LIMS database

  • Follow proper laboratory GLP protocols, lab safety, and general lab cleanliness and maintenance

Requirements

  • M.S. in Chemistry preferred – background in coffee, food or beverage preferred

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory or related science lab environment

  • Working knowledge of GC/MS, HPLC, UV/VIS, LC/MS, FTIR, ICP and wet chemical techniques

  • Strong skills in GC/MS analysis and interpretation as it applies to flavors and food analysis is desired

  • Capable of using statistical analysis tools and data science techniques

  • Excellent oral, written, influencing and communication skills

  • Ability to travel upto 10% domestically
