Chevron Corporation Process Engineer in Geismar, Louisiana

Develops and optimizes systems in operating and production facilities for separation, purification, transformation, transportation, and sale/disposition of hydrocarbons, water and contaminants. Focuses on the interaction of fluids with equipment in meeting required compositional specifications, physical conditions, and flow rates.

Supports clients/customers and assists with functional projects under regular supervision. Has a general knowledge of the work function.

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Process Engineer through July 16th, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (CDT) .

This position is responsible for a variety of engineering duties, including design of new plants and upgrades, continuous improvement of current production processes, management of small to medium size capital projects and evaluation of new technologies. This position will be a technical expert in the process chemistry and production processes at CREG facilities.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Support day to day plant operations monitoring performance of the plant/product quality and coordinating with operations or maintenance to correct deviations as necessary.

  • Work with operations and other engineers to identify continuous improvement opportunities that make the process safer, increase throughput, improve quality, and reduce operating costs.

  • Support turnaround activities.

  • Analyze output, operating costs, and process costs for various plant configurations to support feasibility and screening studies.

  • Produce process design packages including utility summaries, equipment and instrument data sheets, PFDs and P&IDs for commercial and pilot plant applications.

  • Analyze alternative process Aspen designs to determine cost effective alternatives to existing processes.

  • Review engineering designs by outside contractors for conformance to specifications and technology.

  • Design plant modifications to existing facilities and complete management of change (MOC) forms to initiate installation.

  • Provide owner’s engineering support for new plant development during front end engineering design, detailed engineering, procurement, and plant commissioning.

  • Individual schedule may require flexibility to respond to refinery upsets during off hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree – Chemical Engineering

  • Experience Required: 2 - 5 years in a process-related industry, preferably in biomass based diesel, edible oils, petroleum, petrochemical, ethanol, or other renewable fuels industries preferred

Skills Required:

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Extensive math and basic financial analysis abilities

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio)

  • Strong organization skills

  • Strong technical background

  • Aspen Hysys

  • PI

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree – Chemical Engineering

  • Experience Required: 2 - 5 years in a process-related industry, preferably in biomass based diesel, edible oils, petroleum, petrochemical, ethanol, or other renewable fuels industries preferred

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

  • Aspen Plus

  • ChemCAD

  • AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of biomass based diesel production and related processes

  • Experience with various software programs

  • Experience with process simulations

  • Process data historians

  • 3-D modeling
