Chart Industries Customer Applications Engineer in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Exciting Opportunity for a Customer Application Engineer.

We are searching for an experienced Customer Application Engineer with a focus on full-stack development to join our Data Driven Advantage team based in Renfrew.

As a Customer Applications Engineer, you will be an integral part of an agile team, actively engaged in both front-end and back-end development to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading IoT software products. Your role will be pivotal in developing innovative solutions for the optimization of process technologies and equipment, impacting a wide range of industries including clean power, water, food, and industrial sectors globally.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Application and Software Development and Integration: Develop and configure IoT applications interfacing with sensors and devices; integrate IoT platforms and connectivity solutions for full-stack customer-specific use cases; focus on developing robust, reusable, and optimized application features.

  • Solution Design and Customization: Design and tailor IoT applications to meet customer requirements; recommend suitable hardware and software components to align with project scope and goals.

  • Data Processing and Analytics: Manage data pipelines for collection and processing to enable analytics and insights; develop analytics and reporting features customized to customer needs.

  • Testing and Validation: Conduct consistent, thorough testing and validation within an agile workflow to ensure IoT applications meet customer requirements and perform reliably.

  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation for IoT applications, covering configuration, setup, and best practices; provide training as needed.

  • Continuous Improvement and Feedback: Keep abreast of emerging IoT technologies and trends, and use this knowledge to make proactive recommendations.

To be successful you must have …

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in IoT application development and customization.

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages and web development frameworks (e.g. JavaScript, Java, Python, C/C++).

  • Knowledge of IoT communication protocols and platforms (e.g. MQTT, REST APIs, Azure).

  • Understanding of agile management principles/methodologies and tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

In addition, we value …

  • Experience with PTCs Thingworx platform or similar IoT platforms.

  • Expertise in data management, analytics, and machine learning.

  • Experience working with and implementing testing software and tools (e.g. Selenium).

  • Experience with source control and code management tools.

  • Understanding of UI/UX design principles and their application.
