POSITION SUMMARY: Art Instructors will be responsible for developing, leading, and evaluating a variety of programs for pre-k through adult age groups aligned with the Art Center's mission and vision. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced instructor who is knowledgeable about art and passionate about improving the quality of life in their community by promoting diverse artistic and cultural opportunities that inspire.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Arts Supervisor DIRECT REPORTS ASSIGNED: 0 JOB LOCATION: Art Center 601 E. 6th Street Glenwood Springs, CO FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Part-time HOURS: Less than 130 hours per month

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for providing instruction to participants in a safe, fun, and age-appropriate manner. 2. Responsible for developing class curriculum and evaluating class outcomes. 3. Communicate clearly with participants, parents, and staff. 4. Responsible for making recommendations to improve classes. 5. Assist with creative program development and community projects. 6. Aid with program registration/relationship building among program participants/stakeholders. 7. Organizing and maintaining studio supplies. CORE COMPETENCIES: Displays knowledge about art and experience in instructing a variety of ages and levels. Passionate about improving the quality of life in the community by promoting diverse artistic and cultural opportunities that inspire. Proficient in a variety of media/styles and uses effective teaching methods. People skills: Having a friendly and accepting attitude to visitors and participants is extremely important, as well as providing them with a positive experience is key to this job. Collaboration skills: Being a team player is key to this job. Communication skills: Listening, writing, and speaking about art and art education and promoting classes and events is an important part of the Flexibility and open mindedness: Staying open to what is and can be is an important part of the job. EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS NECESSARY: Must be 18 years of age or older. 1-2 years previous teaching experience in art, studio art, K-12 education, or experience in community/civic engagement, or major course work in any of the following areas: Arts, Fine Arts, Art History, and Arts Education, Community/Civic Engagement.

DESIRED: Knowledge of best practices in art education is a plus. Speak and write Spanish fluently.
