Roaring Fork School District Re-1 School Bus Driver in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Duties: Drive a school bus and transport students on daily routes and activity trips throughout routes in Garfield, Eagle, and Pitkin counties. This is an entry-level position under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager and Director of Transportation. Safely and efficiently transport students on assigned routes and on additional trips/routes as needed. Drive assigned trips (including evenings and weekends). Monitor and control student behavior. Perform basic operator level vehicle inspections, including pre and post trip inspections per Colorado Code of Regulations. Communicate regularly with transportation and school staff regarding student, route and vehicle issues. May be required to transport students with special needs and will be trained to do so per Colorado Department of Education guidelines. Attend all meetings and training sessions including all training and driver meetings. Seek ways to improve the assigned bus route and student transportation experience. Training and regular evaluation provided by the Driver Trainer. This position is paid monthly, year-round, and is eligible for year-round benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance and a retirement program. Works year-round and requires a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.

Requirements: Possess or willing to obtain valid Colorado CDL/P2S Class B license (Commercial Drivers License with school bus & student endorsements & all related state requirements). Must agree to complete CPR/First Aid certification w/in 90 days of initial employment. Must be willing to complete mandatory, on-the-job training, including the Trip Driver Training requirements and Over the Road driving skills for activities. - Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (per the State of Colorado law). Must agree to completing the following onboarding checks and exams upon hiring: Motor Vehicles Records check; Colorado Department of Transportation medical examination; Enrollment in a Drug and Alcohol Testing program (at the expense of the district, with designated providers); Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check (at the expense of the district, with designated providers); Reference checks; Driving skills evaluation and training; Mechanical aptitude and skills assessment and training.
