LIFT-UP Transportation Lead in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Overview: As a Transportation Lead, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective transportation of goods and materials to support our organization's mission of combating food insecurity. You will oversee all aspects of transportation operations, including vehicle maintenance, delivery coordination, inventory management, reporting, and fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities: 1. Day-to-Day Transportation Operations: - Coordinate and oversee daily transportation activities to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations. - Develop and implement transportation schedules and routes to optimize efficiency and minimize costs. - Monitor and address any issues or delays in transportation operations promptly. - Oversee grocery rescue, mobile pantries, and mobile drive-throughs.

  1. Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Maintain a fleet of vehicles by scheduling and overseeing regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are in compliance with safety regulations and maintain proper documentation.
  1. Delivery Coordination:
  • Coordinate deliveries to various pantries
  • Collaborate with internal teams to prioritize delivery schedules based on urgency and demand.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Oversee food inventories at the warehouse and all pantry locations, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff and pantry managers to facilitate seamless inventory management and distribution.
  1. Reporting:
  • Generate regular reports on transportation activities, including delivery schedules, vehicle maintenance, and inventory levels.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and optimize operational efficiency.
  1. Order Management:
  • Receive and process transportation orders from internal departments and external partners.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to fulfill orders accurately and on time.
  1. Stakeholder Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and food vendors involved in transportation operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to address any transportation-related issues or concerns effectively.

Qualifications: Proven experience in transportation operations management, preferably in a food distribution or logistics environment. Must be 21 years or older. Must possess a valid Driver's License Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations, with the ability to oversee fleet management effectively. Proficiency in inventory management systems and software for tracking and reporting purposes. Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, or irregular hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a nonprofit or social services organization. Familiarity with food distribution programs and procedures, including pantry operations and grocery rescue initiatives. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
