This Clinical Operations Data Specialist provides program and data monitoring that supports the Care Management and Utilization Management teams. Roles for this position include working with program leads to develop data requests, monitoring current reports, summarizing and notifying program leads of trends within programs, organization and management of data for deliverables, and point for pulling data/reports within the clinical platform. This position will ensure continued support for program development and compliance for Care Management and Utilization Management. Utilize leadership and technical skills to provide data insights for the Essette clinical projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respect confidentiality and maintain confidences as described in the UHG Employee Handbook and acknowledged through signature by all employees. The ability to maintain confidentiality is a critical and essential component of this position

  • Works collaboratively with Essette system SMEs, IT, business units and other departments using the Essette system in accordance with the Mission and Values of the company to perform the assigned duties

  • Responsible for analyzing and improving business processes through data analytics

  • Collect, clean and organize data from various sources

  • Support data integrity and accuracy through regular audits and quality control procedures

  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights. Work with vast amounts of data from multiple sources to provide predictive and prescriptive analytics to the clinical operations leadership and team

  • Maintain working knowledge of all modules

  • Create effective, data driven solutions for operational problems and program requirements. Use statistical models to support process improvement. Uses pertinent data and facts to identify and solve a range of problems within the clinical department

  • Utilize individual thought and department expertise to organize and validate data to manage the development of reports, e.g., production reports, regulatory reports, utilization reports, compliance reports for internal and external audits, and validation of reports

  • Create reports and data visualization to communicate findings to stakeholders, including dashboards. Collaborate with project team members to create detailed requirements documents

  • Maintains system efficiency. Ensures the design of the system allows all components to work properly for the department and others utilizing it. Troubleshoot problems reported by user, by testing and resolving or reporting as necessary. Engages in necessary resources to address needs in a timely manner. Makes recommendations for future upgrades

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or the combination of education and experience that would enable performance of the full scope of the position

  • 2+ years of healthcare industry, system support or care coordination experience

  • 2+ years of data analytics or process improvement experience

  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with excel and data analytics

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills with technical staff and end users

  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, interpret technical procedures, and to identify and manage routine problems

  • Demonstrated decision making, multi-tasking capabilities, and ability to learn new technologies

  • Proven Microsoft systems knowledge

The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
