Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Project Manager

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager will have constant contact with Sales Engineers and Installation personnel to receive and communicate design requirements and results. This role frequently interacts with customers, requiring reasonable tact and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand HVAC design and engineering

  • Draft and read blueprints

  • Apply knowledge of local, national, and state codes

  • Select equipment, duct, and piping

  • Communicate with inside and outside customers regarding equipment design, installation, and operations of HVAC systems and controls for the design/build, negotiation, add-on, and replacement markets

  • Size heating and cooling loads for the selection of equipment and distribution systems

  • Estimate and price equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractors

  • Draft CAD designs for equipment, duct, and pipe layout

  • Work with registered engineers and inspectors for design approvals

  • Follow detailed office procedures to assure proper flow from system design through purchasing, installation, pricing, and job costing

  • Collaborate with salespeople on installation projects involving system design, equipment selection, heat loads, energy analysis, CAD, making job folders, ordering, expediting, and checking in on equipment

  • Work with the Operations Manager, installation crew, and subcontractors to ensure the project runs smoothly

  • Answer questions, provide PO numbers to installers, call for inspections, and follow the project through to the final OEM packet

  • Present proposals when needed

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in HVAC/R Engineering

  • Five or more years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC design

  • Five or more years of project estimating and project management experience

  • Experience working/designing steam rooms, boilers, hydronics, load calculations, refrigeration units, HVAC, pumps, compressors, and fans

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software is a plus

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.65 - $46.55/hr.
