Corewell Health Physician - Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, HDVCH - Grand Rapids, Michigan in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Job Summary

Helen DeVos Children's Hospital has a wonderful opportunity for a BC/BE child & adolescent psychiatrist looking for an inpatient and/or outpatient practice within a premier pediatric medical facility. We offer a wide array of services throughout the continuum of care (outpatient, medical inpatient and ED consultation liaison, inpatient medical psychiatric unit), making us an ideal place for both experienced child psychiatrists and new graduates to work in their desired area of practice. We are also thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity to practice on a brand new, and only unit of its kind in the region, Pediatric Medical Psychiatric Unit opening in Spring/Summer 2024.

Select Features of this Position:

  • 90-minute evaluations and 30-minute follow ups for outpatient practice

  • Opportunities for inpatient practice including consultation liaison and rotation on pediatric medical floors and ED as well as on the inpatient Pediatric Medical Psychiatric Unit

  • Work with a comprehensive behavioral health care team including psychology, psychotherapy, nursing, and social work in addition to Advanced Practice Provider support.

  • Teaching opportunity with pediatric residents and medical students

  • Inpatient nighttime call and unit weekend rounding for inpatient psychiatrists for additional compensation

  • Outpatient nighttime call is managed by a nurse triage system and staffed by each psychiatrists for one week 3-4 times per year

  • Team inbasket coverage while you're away from work! Providers rotate coverage to manage calls and refill requests while your away. Each provider staffs this service 3-4 weeks per year.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.

  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.

  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.

  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.

  • Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.

  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.

  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.

  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree

  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or

  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required

  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
