Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
As a Controls Engineer, you will be tasked with performing complete system engineering for industrial automation projects, including component selection and sizing. Your expertise should encompass motor drives, PLCs, automation equipment, machine safety, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. You will own projects from inception to completion—covering initial design, component selection, monitoring, and developing the build process. Additionally, you will handle debugging, programming PLC and HMI development, interfacing with customers, and traveling to sites for installation.
Hard Skills
3+ years experience in industrial controls system applications with PLC, HMI, and industrial automation systems
3 years related experience in electrical design, safety system designs including schematics and panel layouts
3 years experience of control systems applications from project start to completion with client support
Experience with Motion (Servo actuators, Servo Motors) and Vision systems
50% PLC Programming - 50% AutoCAD Electrical Design
Custom Machine Design Experience
Experience in fluid design with pneumatic and hydraulic schematics systems
Robotics (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB)
PLC Programming from Scratch
Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Granite City, Illinois.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office setting with occasional overtime to meet customer commitments. You will need to be on the production floor to support the team during equipment builds. The standard working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Travel constitutes about 30% of the job.
