PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager and provides the necessary support to accomplish Maintenance Department objectives in a safe, economical, and technically feasible manner. This position is responsible for the indirect supervision and productivity of the maintenance hourly workforce and Warehouse staff. Directs the scheduling and maintenance activities in such a manner that high-quality repairs are completed in a timely manner align with the plant's safety, environmental and production objectives.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with all Calumet procedures
  • Ensure the planning and execution of maintenance and warehouse tasks to achieve high equipment uptime and integrity
  • Ensure the efficient use of the JD Edwards maintenance module including the timely close out of work orders, updating of maintenance task routines, generation of reports, etc.
  • Complete assigned engineering projects as directed and interface with contractors as needed
  • Direct major equipment repairs by ensuring proper monitoring of the condition of plant equipment in cooperation with the Operations and Technical groups to maintain reliable operation
  • Establish the performance standards for maintenance utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), develop the method of measurement and provide timely and routine feedback to those responsible for the performance (performance management)
  • Must be able to interpret Process Flow Diagrams and Process System Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs)
  • Engineers and others to ensure all aspects of equipment operation and maintenance are managed Operations
  • Ensure proper training and coaching of maintenance and warehouse personnel and the evaluation of performance of the team in a continuous manner

  • Efficiently and effectively maintain all plant and distribution facilities as required
  • Support, Coordinate, and Initiate Plant Projects as directed
  • Effectively support Plant Safety and Environmental Goals and Directions
  • Plan, organize, assign and coordinate work to achieve production schedules
  • Perform and Maintain Preventative Maintenance Program on all equipment, tanks, and supporting system as directed
  • Investigate and initiate work method, process control, layout and operating improvement, coordinating such efforts with appropriate support functions
  • Continually monitor plant processes for potential failures and opportunities for continual process improvement
  • Personal commitment to quality stands and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist in the purchasing and maintaining of Maintenance inventory

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred, with 5+ years' post-graduate work experience in an industrial setting with relevant supervisory experience
  • 10+ years' technical or craft experience (hands-on) in a refining or petrochemical plant environment and exposure to maintenance principles and practices, and have 3+ years' demonstrated success in positions of progressive supervisory responsibility
  • Must be available to work overtime and nights / weekends as needed

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:

  • Proven safety experience / training and leadership including but not limited to: confined space, lock out tag out, hot work, safe work permits, personal protective equipment, and other critical safety procedures
  • Extensive working knowledge of field maintenance processes in
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and very strong troubleshooting capability
  • SAP / JDE experience
