Position:

We are seeking a talented Landscape Manager to join our team. The role of the Landscape Manager is to design and execute landscaping plans. Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, grasses, greenery appropriate for western Montana climate. Plan and implement irrigation systems to maintain landscaped areas. Operate all manner of machinery required to plant and maintain landscaped areas. Pest control to include insects, gophers and deer. Landscape Manager is responsible for overseeing the year-round daily operations of the landscape department.

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, manage, and maintain irrigation systems

  • Lay sod, plant trees, shrubs, flowers, grasses, greenery appropriate for western Montana climate.

  • Pest control to include insects, gophers, and deer.

  • Operate heavy machinery required to plant and maintain landscape; bobcats, tractor, weed eater, mowers

  • Successfully execute landscaping plans

  • Build schedules for mow route, snow removal, water route, and maintenance

  • Keeping the grounds in accordance with Resort standards

  • Ensure safety of all in operation of equipment and use of chemicals and fertilizers needed for grounds maintenance

  • Trail grooming and maintenance

  • Holiday light displays put up, take down and maintenance

  • Lead snow and ice removal operations

  • Tree trimming

  • Diagnosis of failing trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals

  • Planning, supervising and leading crews and contractors in preservation, restoration, construction, and maintenance of landscape. Manage landscape staff (fulltime, hourly and seasonal), contractors, and vendors in efficiently and safely completing department responsibilities in a timely manor

  • Manage time between field and office to ensure proper training and mentoring of team

  • Prioritize tasks brought by other departments and supervisor and coordinate work assignments with team

  • Recognize unsafe work practices or conditions and correct action

  • Identify opportunities in staff training of safety, plant care, maintenance, proper tool and equipment use. Etc.

  • As an exempt employee, share work with the Director of Landscape for events as well as being available for special situations

  • Attend meetings, including but not limited to managers meetings, operations meetings, leadership luncheon, planning sessions and special event meetings

  • May be required to interact with guests and assist with answers or transportation

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

    Looking for Team Members with:

  • Degree in horticulture, floriculture, landscape preservation or related field. Minimum 5 years previous experience in professionally landscaping large areas for businesses, parks and/or luxury resorts minimum 3 years supervisory experience

  • Valid State Driver’s License with a good driving record

  • Previous experience and training in the safe operation of heavy equipment, bobcat, tractors, skidders, graders, mowers, etc .

  • Appropriate clothing for working in a variety of weather conditions, work gloves

  • Considerable knowledge of horticulture and grounds maintenance procedures.

  • Able to obtain an applicators certificate within 1 year of hire date.

  • Familiarity and comfortable using Microsoft Office suite and landscape design applications
