What you will do

Volvo Financial Services is the finance arm of the Volvo Group. Core Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day activities of the Accounting team, including transaction approvals and other functions, in accordance with IFRS, VFS Finance policies and the AB Volvo Financial Policies and Procedures.

• Review and approve reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness in resolution of open items.

• Provide technical expertise and advice to the business to assist others in understanding the impact of accounting changes.

• Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of accounting professionals to ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and on time.

• Administration of the general ledger system, financial reporting systems, and other financial software applications to ensure accuracy and appropriate controls are maintained.

• Provide direction in the continuous enhancement of integrated financial reporting systems.

• Monitor reporting timeliness and quality of Accounting team and implement corrective activities as needed.

• Prepare, analyze and/or present financial and non-financial reports to management and the parent company on both an ad hoc and regularly scheduled basis.

• Assist in the development of VFS financial policies, procedures and control measures to ensure that all transactions are properly controlled, tracked and reported in accordance with Volvo and VFS Financial Policies and Procedures and International Financial Reporting Standards.

• Provide training and guidance in accounting and financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, the FPP and VFS global policies as needed.

• Drive projects and initiatives to increase efficiency and digitalize processes

• Promote and enhance sharing of best practices between US and VFS markets to ensure continual improvement.

• Complete ad hoc activities requested by VP US Finance, Accounting Director, or other VFS US functions.

Education and Experience Required

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance

• CPA preferred

• 10+ years progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting preferably in the financial services industry

Required Competencies and Skills:

• Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast paced, demanding environment

• Solid working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles and financial information systems.

• Sound business judgment and decision making abilities

• Proficiency with MS Office, with advanced knowledge in Excel. Experience with reporting software packages is beneficial.

• Innovative problem solving, research and analytical skills

• Strong evidence of personal initiative and outstanding verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and focus on quality

• Ability and desire to work within and in support of a team environment

• The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the financial services industry within a large multi-national corporation. English is essential.
