SONOCO Shipping Supervisor / Production Scheduler in Hanover, Pennsylvania

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager as a Production Scheduler, you will be responsible for creating a detailed finite production schedule by SKU and by line in shift/hour/minute detail, for the next few hours or days, depending on the requirements of the customer. You will continually balance and rebalance resources to effectively deploy a schedule that allows operations to run as efficiently as possible, while meeting customer service expectations.

What you'll be doing: THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING. Use standard tools and processes to develop production schedules to meet finished goods requirements, while minimizing changeovers, downtime, and inventory. Creates and manages Work Orders (i.e. production "jobs") to meet firm demand (Sales Orders) and/or stocking requirements. Manage demand exceptions by expediting, delaying, or canceling Work Orders, as required. Leads daily production schedule meeting to understand plant performance and customer needs to better plan production. Analyzes and manages overall plant production process and develops strategies to meet goals. Work collaboratively with production, shipping, Material Planner, and other staff to maintain minimal inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods. Monitor production performance, and accuracy, to identify changes and determine effect on the latest production plan. Supports the development, application, production trials, and introduction of new materials and processes. Works with suppliers and internal departments to achieve these objectives. Coordinate all shipping activities along with the Shipping Coordinator. Take inventory/cycle counts monthly and reconcile with Oracle. Work with offsite 3PL and Railroad for inbound and outbound activities. Work with plant management and customers to quickly resolve service issues. Measures, analyzes, and reports key process metrics, and monitor adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs). Work with Division Supply Chain to make incremental improvements to production scheduling systems and reporting. As directed, supports Material Planner with the receipt entry of raw material, services, and supplies. (Back-up)

This position is located in our Hanover, PA plant.

We'd love to hear from you if: You have a 4-year degree, 5+ years of related experience can substitute. You have Oracle and Logility experience [highly preferred]. You have at least three years of production scheduling experience [required]. Are highly proficient with all MS Office tools, esp Excel (advanced level) Have Process improvement experience [preferred]. You are highly analytical, flexible, collaborative, self-motivated, and have strong attention to detail. Have an ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) [preferred]

Compensation: The annual base salary range for this role is from $70,350 to $84,420, plus quarterly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.

A quarterly bonus is awarded to eligible employees upon attaining various business and individual goals as defined by the Company and the department leader. This quarterly bonus is discretionary, and the Company has sole discretion to determine the amount of the award.
