The Youth Services Recreation Attendant is a seasonal position (no benefits) with a preferred hiring rate of $15.96 per hour . The ideal candidates will have e xemplary customer service abilities and be available from June through mid-August to assist with S.O.A.R. (Summer Organized Activities & Recreation Programs).
As a Recreation Attendant in Youth Services, you'll assist with Youth Services programs by:
Supervising children;
Planning and implementing specific activities for participants;
Preparing facilities and materials for Youth Services programs;
Enforcing Youth Services programs rules and regulations;
Completing disciplinary forms, accident forms, and other paperwork as needed;
Processing payments and transactions for care offered;
Responding to questions and providing information related to Youth Services programs and activities;
Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire (approximately June 2025).
Completion of the tenth grade and minimal experience in a customer service position required. High school diploma or GED, preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
Availability to work Monday - Friday from June through mid-August between the hours of 7:30am - 5:30pm; however, exact shifts will vary.
CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within the first three months of employment.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
Drug screening; and
Criminal background check.
This position is subject to the City of Harrisonburg's random drug testing program.
