Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDI&A) is Ford’s Data Analytics organization and Data Factory Engineering, and Operations (DFEO) is GDI&A’s critical team for making data available to the enterprise at scale and delivering on Ford’s plan to become a data-first company. The Data Factory (DF) provides centralized access, governance, and discoverability to data consumers looking to build analytical tools, develop new AI/ML models, create data-dependent software offerings, and turn data into actionable insights and customer value. Ford’s data first plan, including the Data Factory, remains a strategic priority for leadership and the company.

We are looking for a GCP Software Architect in the Data Factory Team. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to work with Data Factory team to define Architecture Standards, Process and Best Practices as well as define process maps to guide users to use the Data Factory functionality effectively. In addition you will get to use cutting-edge technologies such as GCP (Google Cloud Platform), BigQuery, DataProc, CloudRun, Pub/Sub, Google Cloud Storage, Terraform, CloudBuild and Python as well as non-Google native and on-premise tools such as Astronomer and Qlik Replicate.

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, Data Factory Leaders to understand the business needs and deliver solutions.

  • Develop, maintain and enforce architecture standards, process and best practices across Data Factory

  • Provide Architectural support for platform teams to build applications in GCP

  • Ensure all architectural documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects current practices and standards

  • Provide technical leadership and support throughout development life cycle

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Data Architecture teams for guidance

  • Design and document comprehensive process maps to streamline and enhance application and business processes

  • Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to optimize applications, workflow and operational efficiency

You'll Have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in Software/Solution Architecture with a Master’s degree or 5 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in software/solutions architecture or a related field.

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Software Architect with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform services.

  • Strong coding skills in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.

  • Utilize DevOps practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • In-depth expertise with modern analytics tools and techniques, including data discovery, streaming analytics, and related technologies.

  • Experience in using Rally as a Backlog Management Tool and ensuring SubEpics, Features, and User Stories are sliced and recorded properly.

Even Better, You'll Have…

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology-oriented major.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Solution Architecture with a Master’s degree or 8 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree Developing and deploying software applications on Google Cloud Platform or other cloud vendor.

  • Integrating Google Cloud Platform services into software applications.

  • Designing and developing software applications.

  • Working with software development teams to implement and maintain software applications.

  • Troubleshooting and debugging software applications.

  • Experience with tools such as Tekton, Terraform, Github, and other new technologies.

  • In-depth expertise with modern analytics tools and techniques, including data discovery, streaming analytics, and related technologies.

  • Familiarity in providing technical analytic/data solutions for applications.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers throughout the SDLC.

  • Negotiation skills and ability to work with a diverse set of partners/customers.

  • Exposure and experience with Ford Architectural standards, processes, and documentation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate many services and a wide range of global business and IT partners.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

This position is a range of salary grades 5-8.
