Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, leads, develops, writes, and produces routine to moderately complex proposals and qualifications in compliance with client deadlines, proposal budgets, and quality expectations. Assists in formulating pursuit strategy and development of content and marketing materials.

The ideal candidate can work in a hybrid setup from VHB's NYC, NY, or Hauppauge, NY offices. This arrangement involves working in the office three days a week.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Pursuits

    Leads and prepares routine to moderately complex proposals and qualification packages with standard oversight from marketing management and/or senior marketing staff.
  • Leads kick-off meetings with guidance from senior marketing staff and/or marketing management as needed. Leads and prepares materials for kick-off meetings and standard proposal review processes.
  • Independently prepares proposal and interview management plans (e.g., outlines, page limits, client technical and administrative requirements, proposal and interview schedules).
  • Synthesizes, interprets, and translates the requirements and proposal submission instructions from RFPs with specific instructions to assist technical authors.
  • Develops proposal and/or technical writing instructions and actions for technical pursuit members with guidance as needed.
  • Develops tailored, meaningful content and designs for marketing team-assigned sections. Reviews, edits, and re-writes or re-messages content developed by technical practitioners with general guidance from senior marketing partner.
  • Leads client presentation preparation and coordination.
  • Serves as a strategist and collaborative partner with technical staff.
  • Works closely with graphic designers, subject matter experts, and other technical staff to produce compliant, on-time, differentiating proposals.
  • Regularly communicates with subconsultants and tracks subconsultant materials for proposals. Edits and messages content as needed.
  • Verifies that proposal submissions adhere to the solicitation requirements (e.g., formatting, content, page count, schedule, costs, deliverables, milestones).
  • Verifies compliance with VHB branding standards, formats, and template styles.
  • Shadows senior marketing staff during Super Strategic pursuits. Provides support and/or may serve as lead on a section of a complex pursuit (i.e., serves as marketing lead on one volume/section of a business development effort with oversight from senior marketing staff).
  • Develops, updates, and maintains boilerplate content and manages ongoing reviews by technical and administrative staff. Adds to the proposal knowledge base.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.
  • Persuasive writing techniques.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately edit and reformat documents while under time constraints.
  • Ability to adapt to changes with ease.
  • Demonstrated ability to move projects forward.
  • Involvement and certification in industry affiliations preferred (e.g., CPSM, APMP).
  • Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of proposal, writing, or marketing experience in the professional services industry (AEC preferred)
  • BA/BS in Marketing, English, Communications, or related discipline

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position, located in New York City, NY and in Hauppauge, NY is $70,000-80,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as location, individual qualifications, education, and experience.
