Summary:
Procures a variety of services, equipment, and supplies on behalf of pharmacy departments. Serves as a resource for inventory management practices through the use of technology and automation. Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
Responsibilities:
• Utilizes technology to order medications, order departmental supplies and optimize contract purchases to maintain inventory within guidelines set by Pharmacy Leadership.
• Maintains relationships with wholesaler and GPO to address supply needs and contract compliance.
• Utilizes technology and collaborates with accounting for purchasing and invoice payment of supplies and services.
• Accurately completes and maintains controlled substance documentation (DEA 222 forms, invoices, etc)
• Consistently demonstrates good time management by making priorities, working in an efficient and productive manner, and reducing non-essential interruptions to maintain efficient workflow.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and choose a course of action in general problem solving and refers all clinical questions to a Pharmacist.

Qualifications
Required
• Must be credentialed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• Four (4) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician with two (2) years in a hospital pharmacy.
• Must have considerable math, computer keyboarding and guest relations skills.
• Must be able to work in a diversified position with a moderate level of independence.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Preferred
• Associate Degree
• Formal training as a pharmacy technician from an educational institution or hospital.
