G.W. Becker, Inc. (GWBI) is looking for an *Estimator *who will be responsible for providing customers with material, labor and time estimates and proposals for capital equipment projects, and assistance in applying overhead crane related products and services. This position focuses on using technical, organizational, customer knowledge and experience to complete tasks required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works on proposals/quotes as assigned.
  • Review and understand customer specifications and/or drawings to qualify customer's needs and requests.
  • Research previous jobs for comparable builds.
  • Review previous jobs actual costs for comparison to estimate in order to evaluate accuracy of quoting process.
  • Establish base standard item pricing for quotes.
  • Adjust comparable jobs as necessary to conform to the current bid.
  • Review proposal for all Customer requirements which include:
  • Prepares formal proposal/quote, in detail for the customer.
  • Spells out equipment specifications, delivery, payment terms, lead times and terms and conditions.
  • Have a firm understanding of all vendor product lines and how they will be best apply to the customer needs.
  • Contact vendors directly or thru vendor websites for major commercial components
  • Contact the customer to clarify requirements and equipment options as necessary.
  • Suggest alternatives /options to the customer.
  • Communicates as required (Any Sales Order or Customer Change) with the Customer, Sales, Engineering, Accounting, Purchasing, Production and Service.
  • Revise quote as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Reviews and processes customer purchase orders to ensure that it accurately matches the initial quote with regards to specification, pricing, payment terms and sales margins.
  • Serves as support staff for Regional Sales Managers, Sales Manager, Engineer staff, Purchasing staff, Production staff, Service staff and others as needed.
  • Consults with Engineers and other technical staff as needed.
  • Develop cost standards

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Ability to navigate within Business software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Working knowledge of these programs is minimum requirement and above average knowledge is recommended.
  • Ability to provide efficiency and urgency in the estimating/proposal process.

Qualifications

  • Capital equipment and/or Manufacturing and/orMachinery estimating experience required
  • 2-5 years of related training and experience preferred
