Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Responsabilities

  • Defines state-of-the-art process flow to manufacture new products leveraging on product and process platform, design-to-manufacturing capabilities, roadmaps, and footprint strategy

  • Is accountable for initial estimates and final quotation of external equipment. Supports Procurement during negotiation process to reach project financial targets.

  • Selects best-in-class manufacturing processes and drives their qualification using Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology and tools such as process DOE, statistical analysis, process capability, PFMEA, …

  • Manage internal and external equipment suppliers during quoting, design, build, and release phase of equipment

  • Supports Project Manager to monitor and to report “Actuals versus Target” for Capex and Performance Data (compared to approved Capex)

  • Drives the B- and C-sample build, the debugging of tools and/or equipment until final release

  • Ensures timely execution of Manufacturing Readiness Level deliverables (MRL-Ownership)

  • Coordinates DFM/DFA and Technical Manufacturing Process Reviews in alignment with supporting functions G1-G6 (Manufacturing Engineering, Shared Process Engineering, Automation, Process Experts…)

  • Coordinate the transfer of tools and/or equipment to the final production location until Operations Sign-Off for G5

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degreein technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive process engineering or automotive manufacturing engineering of electronic or electromechanical products including full lifecycle development; all aspects from manufacturing process selection and qualification, manufacturing process flow definition, supplier selection to start of production

  • Experience with manufacturing line supplier management (including negotiation) and collaborating with engineering teams in charge of product design

  • Comprehensive technical understanding and proven experience in at least one important manufacturing process technology for sensors such as plastic overmolding, stamping, welding, winding, …

  • Exceptionalengagement, flexibility, and resilience in project execution

  • Outstanding ability to teamwork focused on commitment, with a goal-oriented way of working and data driven decision approach.

  • Exceptional fluency in English

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts.

  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, ambiguous and vague requirements, conflicts and constraints.
