The role you’ll contribute:

Directs quality and patient safety activities and resources.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures for the identification, collection and analysis of quality and patient safety information.

· Educates and trains leadership, staff, physicians, and others on the quality and patient safety program, regulatory requirements/standards, and respective responsibilities in carrying out the program. Advises departments on designing quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and policies and protocols within their own departments.

· Oversees the investigation and analyzes of root causes, patterns and trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events, serious adverse events and near misses. Assists with identification and implementation of corrective actions where appropriate.

· Oversees reporting requirements to ensure continued compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, including CMS, TJC, IDPH, and others as required.

· Enhances the organization's and the larger healthcare community's knowledge of quality improvement and safety best practices through literature review, interaction with internal & external resources, and knowledge of evolving relevant regulatory requirements.

· Provides planning, implementation, integration, and evaluation of activities relative to achieving high reliability, including robust process improvement and culture of safety standards.

· Oversees preparation of summary reports, dashboards and other data analytic tools that inform the organization including analyses of data, interpretation of findings, final conclusions, and appropriate recommendations.

· Supports the Medical Staff in their continuous improvement, integration and evaluation related to Medical Staff peer review, OPPE and FPPE programs.

· Oversees Infection Control Program functions and ensures meeting standards.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

· Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, physicians, etc.

· Excellent skills in use of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and other databases.

· Skilled in data analyses to drive improvements.

· Strong knowledge of organizational quality management programs, patient safety improvements, project management, and state, federal and other regulatory standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing, allied health, or healthcare-related field required

· Minimum ten (10) years clinical experience in hospital/acute care setting required.

· Minimum five (5) years experience in quality and performance improvement required.

· Minimum of 2 years of leadership or management experience required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Master's degree in healthcare-related field preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

· Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), and/or other nationally recognized certification related to quality and/or patient safety preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervisory responsibilities of team members on the quality and patient safety team.
