Walmart Senior Director, Marketing Planning and Strategy (Brand Management and Enterprise Marketing) in Hoboken, New Jersey

What you'll do...

Walmart Connect is Walmart's advertising platform for brands, uniquely designed to reach hundreds of millions of U.S. shoppers across their entire shopping journey. We connect billions of shopping behaviors to real transactions (both online and in-store), and help marketers truly understand how their marketing drives results.

Walmart Connect's Head of Marketing and Creative is looking for a seasoned B2B marketer to lead the Brand Strategy and Enterprise Sales marketing team with the mission to drive "must buy" status for Connect's ad products across the media industry through awareness and comprehension of our unique value.

This role will lead 25-35 B2B marketers responsible for guiding the Walmart Connect brand strategy, events and ad sales marketing targeting multiple ad buying cohorts and category verticals.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience leading an ad sales marketing team for a major media platform (in either the NY or SF metro areas); excellent written and verbal communication skills and executive presence; expertise in building strategies, messages, and events that differentiate and resonate to drive ad revenue goals; a deep understanding of what great execution look like; and a proven ability to coach teams in the delivery of measurable outcomes through data driven marketing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing both the short- and long-term vision for the Walmart Connect brand

  • Creating and measuring effectiveness of the annual brand strategy and the 3-year long-term vision

  • Collaborating with the Corporate Communications team to build, drive alignment for, and adoption of an annual key messaging strategy and unique value proposition.

  • Acting as an integral part of the Walmart Connect Marketing leadership team

  • Attending bi-weekly meetings and quarterly off-sites to drive departmental wide vision, mission, annual operating plans, budgeting, headcount planning, strategy, tactics, OKRs and employee satisfaction.

  • Presenting your team strategic initiatives and measurable results at quarterly business reviews

  • Driving active collaboration and healthy partnership with key cross functional collaborators and internal clients including, but not limited to:

  • Walmart Connect executive leadership, sales leaders, corporate communications, product marketing, growth marketing, training and education, HR business partners, marketing operations, and Walmart events and shows team.

  • Leading a healthy and positive team culture that lives up to the published Walmart values and drives team satisfaction as measured by an annual engagement study.

  • Implementing plans to coach, motivate and develop individuals on the team-with clarity on personal goals and growth plans.

  • Coaching direct reports in delivery of tactics and key results in the strategy including:

  • Sales narratives presentations that support our position, detail our ad products and launches and enable revenue growth targeting specific cohorts and category verticals.

  • Effective ad campaigns with clever creative and strategic media buys that have rigorous testing plans for optimization.

  • Sales enablement content (ex: sizzle videos, case studies. one-sheets and more)

  • Walmartconnect.com website strategy and management

  • The marcom calendar of key messages and activations

  • Walmart Connect Brand management (protecting and evolving the vision, voice, and creative guidelines)

  • Contracting with 3rd party agencies external service providers as needed

  • A content library (single source of truth for approved sales marketing materials)

  • The advertising help center content

  • An industry event footprint consisting of 24 events (inclusive of activations at conferences such as CES, POSSIBLE, Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, Groceryshop, ANA Masters of Marketing and other owned and operated events)

  • All aspects (logistics and content) of a 2-day sales summit annual kick-off for 1000 associates.

  • Trade organization memberships and benefit activations

  • Branded swag purchasing and online store inventory

  • Voice of customer and brand health metric studies including delivery of insights to drive future strategy and score cards to track progress

  • Driving new, compelling claims to prove our value, scale and performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience leading an ad sales marketing team for a major media platform.

  • Experience and influence driving cross-functional partnerships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and executive presence

  • A proven track record in building marketing strategies that drive measurable results.

  • A passion for crafting a brand's unique value proposition bring benefits of buying to life.

  • Experience producing events and content for conferences, presentations and stage shows.

  • Ability to coach others to deliver performant, unique, brand appropriate tactics on time and in budget.

Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279:The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00

San Bruno, California US-08848:The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field and 4 years' experience in marketing or related field OR 7 years'
