GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Payroll Assistant assists with all aspects of the college payroll system. This position ensures a service-oriented relationship with college departments and staff. The Payroll Assistant supports the seamless and effective functioning of the college payroll and benefits by aiding the Payroll and Human Resources Departments as needed. The Payroll Assistant will also serve as an Administrative Assistant to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVPHR) on an as needed basis. The Payroll Assistant must work effectively and efficiently while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Standard Expectations:

  • Verifies timesheets for accuracy.
  • Serves as the primary pay forms processor.
  • Assists with all Payroll functions as designated by the Payroll Specialist.
  • Assists with the calculation, data entry and reconciliations of each district payroll.
  • Assists with the preparation of requisitions and disbursements for payment of voluntary and involuntary deductions.
  • Assists with the verification of accurate data entry of all employee information and maintaining accurate employee files
  • Verifies and maintains employee leave, termination, or absence
  • Provides technical assistance to the Human Resources Department regarding
  • Assists and responds to inquiries regarding payroll questions, problems, issues and updates.
  • Assists with the preparations of state and federally mandated quarterly and year-end reconciliation reports, and audit requests.
  • Assists with calculations of monthly insurance premiums, insurance reports and reconciliations, and payments.
  • Assists the Associate Vice President of Human Resources as needed.
