Holt Public Schools School Bus Driver in Holt, Michigan

POSITION: REGULAR BUS DRIVER

Will Train • $22.05 Per Hour • Benefits Package • $500 Signing Bonus for Fully Credentialed Drivers

 

ABOUT OUR DISTRICT:   Holt Public Schools is located in the Lansing metropolitan region.  It is primarily located in Ingham County with portions in Eaton County.  We provide educational programs from Early Childhood through and beyond 12th grade including access to Early College programming and Career and Technical Education.  Our current enrollment totals approximately 4,800 students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Must have five (5) years driving experience.

• Must be able to pass background checks, DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen.

• Must have or be able to obtain a CDL Group B with air brake and P/S endorsements.

• Must have passed or be able to pass MDE Beginning Bus Driver Class.

• Must have excellent driving record. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Ability to read and interpret driving directions and a map, establish, and maintain proper conduct of passengers on a school bus, and accept/relate to students with a variety of exceptional needs.

• Ability to communicate clearly with students, parents, district staff, and the general public.

• Knowledge of the proper application of first aid practices and procedures.

• Above-average knowledge and skill of equipment operation.

• Willingness to endure exposure to inclement weather.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules while transporting students to and from assigned bus stops, a variety of school sites, and on field trips as assigned.

• Exercise good judgment and use extreme caution while operating a school bus.

• Perform and document required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Attend meetings, programs, and in-service training as required.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally qualified to operate a school bus and evacuate children from a school bus in the event of an emergency.

• Sufficient strength and agility; lift the hood to inspect the engine compartment, clean the windshield, and carry ill or physically impaired students.

• Excellent hearing and vision capabilities.
