Siemens Energy Embedded Automation Engineer - Fiber Service in Houston, Texas

Electrification-Automation-Digitalization (EAD) is in search of an Embedded Service Engineer with direct experience in servicing integrated industrial solutions with large Control & Automation technologies for the Paper industry.

This position will be based at a Siemens Energy customer site in Niagara Falls, NY and will act as the Siemens Energy representative to the customer for all Distributed Control Systems (DCS) activities including troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, and/or commissioning solutions using Siemens PLC, HMI/SCADA, control systems and industry technology portfolio to satisfy industrial customer requirements or solve problems. The engineer will coordinate with local engineering teams to recommend and deliver high quality technical solutions!

The successful engineer will have a strong educational and industrial background with a major focus in control systems and extensive hands-on experience. A passion for the field, drive to learn and tackle new challenges is an absolute must! The successful candidate must be able to develop customer relationships, be accurate and detailed while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple people, calls and projects demanding attention and time. Candidate must also be willing to travel 10-15% in the US and work the hours needed on industrial job sites to complete the tasks at hand.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Fault find and commission paper mill DCS System

  • Perform small upgrades and modifications to DCS system

  • Learn the latest industrial solutions and new product developments within Siemens Energy

  • Must be proficient in planning workload and specific tasks and be able to achieve completion dates.

  • Coordinate all resources required to complete maintenance outages on DCS

  • Interface directly to customers to answer questions and resolve issues.

  • Able to understand project-specific documentation (system and functional descriptions, test and commissioning procedures, etc.).

  • Collaborate with design engineers to test, commission, troubleshoot, and/or update integrated system drawings.

  • Standard 40 hours per week at customer facility. Overtime as the need arises

What You Bring

  • BS in Engineering is required; Electrical Engineering or similar discipline is preferrable and may be considered.

  • 3+ years of experience in Pulp or Paper or a related industry is required.

  • Candidates with more years of experience may be eligible for a more senior level position.

  • Hands on PLC/SCADA experience is required with a background in Automation / Control System Solution Design or Service/Commissioning.

  • Mostly domestic with some international travel to other Siemens Energy and customer facilities is required (up to approx. 10%).

  • S7/PCS7 Solution Design, Service or Commissioning Experience is preferred.

  • Additional preferred skills:

  • SIPAPER solution experience

  • VFD experience

  • Power systems experience

  • Paper production working experience

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
